One of the region’s many spa towns, Bagnès has been renowned since Roman times. Various celebrities have come here throughout the ages: Jeanne d’Albret, Madame de Maintenon, Mantaigne, and George Sand.

However, it’s more than just a spa town. Summer and winter, various sporting activities are organised for the inhabitants of the entire region. After the exercise, a nice hot bath at the spa is a real pleasure.

In the old town, the 15th century tower dominates the skyline. It was part of the convent, which was destroyed during the Revolution. There are some beautiful houses in la Place Albret, named after the mother of Henri IV.

There are several interesting art galleries, including the Salièr Museum, near the spa. There are sculptures and paintings from the 14th century to the 20th century, and a few artefacts form the gallo-Roman period.
