Cauterets
A high altitude, very old thermal spa village. Since the gallo-Roman period, the exceptionally warm water (35 degrees, minimum) has attracted such famous people as Marguertite de Navarre, Baudelaire, Chateaubriand, and Debussy, to the village.
ts golden period was the 19th century, however since then Cauterets has succeeded in adapting itself to a ski resort and attracting a new clientele.
