Montricoux
Built on a terrace on the right bank of the Aveyron, Montricoux retains a Medieval atmosphere. Its fabulous 13th century dungeon was once the main tower of the Templiers Castle. The main road through the town is beautiful, with old houses on either side. The church tower is gothic, from the 16th century, and inside, the pink marble reminds us that there were once quarries here. There is also a small fresco by Lenoir.

Lenoir was born in Tarn-et-Garonne, and was a famous figure in Montparnasse at the beginning of the 20th century. He died in Montricoux in 1931. Many of his paintings are on display in the village castle, one of the most important art museums in the south west. Because he was an eclectic artist, his paintings cover many styles, form symbolism and surrealism to fauvism and cubism.
